Most people are confused at the differences between computer virus and spyware such as Trojan. One of the biggest differences is "self-copy" function. If your computer has malware or spyware, all you have to do is to find and delete it. Computer virus, however, they duplicate to other programs so you have to inspect every file.
-Development of Computer Virus-
1st Generation : Primitive Virus - It is simple and easy-to-detected virus made by amateurs. There is no code change, and it affect boot files. (Ex. Stoned virus, Jerusalem virus)
2nd Generation : Encryption Virus- Made by skillful programmer, it encrypts virus program. (Ex. Cascade virus, Slow virus)
3rd Generation : Stealth Virus - The virus conceals itself to deceive vaccine program. (Ex. McGyver virus, Brain virus, 512 virus)
4th Generation : Armor Virus - It makes vaccine programs hard to find the virus. Also they are called "self-encrypting virus". (Ex. Whale virus)
5th Generation : Macro Virus - It is infected to the program that uses macro. It is usually infected to word format and affect every new document.
